Short history

Serbia's EU accession process offers new challenges and opportunities. Financial aids and grants that strengthen this process are already accessible and can be applied for promoting the following issues: support for transition and institution-building, rule of law, minority rights, gender equality and non-discrimination, youth mobility, education, cross-border cooperation, neighboring programs, development of economical relationships, but preparatory activities for rural development are also expected.

Institutions (educational, cultural, informational, language concerned), political parties and civil organizations undertake the representation, enforcement of interest and lobby of the Hungarian community in Vojvodina. Civil organizations and associations are the authentic, civil initiatives that are directly related to the Hungarian communities. The role of the main civil organizations and institutions in the proposal system are becoming more and more important.

The budget for the general territory and pre-accession assistance is likely to be expanded, and the number of co-operations between the EU and the domestic stakeholders will increase. The Hungarian community in Vojvodina needs to use these grants, and to achieve this, it is necessary to be aware of our resources, to develop decent project ideas and finally to write the proper proposals. There will be an opportunity to develop and realize projects that are realistic, professionally and financially valid and sustainable.

The Development Foundation of Vojvodina Halo started its work in the summer of 2009 as a non-profit organization. One of its aims is to help the waning community of Hungarians in Vojvodina concerning economical or business development, region or rural development, social problems, human resources or in other community related issues.
